Now you must really treat yourself to a visit to Patterns near Brighton Pier on Saturday 3rd March, as you will be immersed in a kaleidoscopic blend of high energy synths and structural drums from the talented AK/DK.
These boys are gaining a formidable following in the UK based around their uplifting live synth’n’drums performances. Ed and Gee both play synths and both play the drums – quite often at the same time!
Imagine Burundi drums goes electronic and there you have it – fast, exciting, body jerking rhythms to lose yourself in. They multi-task their way through a joyful barrage of distorted drums and rhythms interwoven with simmering electronics – perfect!
Clearly AK/DK is an act that plays with passion combined with inventiveness and the guys thrive when performing their relentless crushing disco-punk robotic/motorik drums with accompanying layers of fizzing Carpenter-esque arpeggios.
The lads are rather unique, but if push comes to shove, then you can expect elements similar to the likes of Underworld, Orbital, Moon Duo, Boredoms, Suicide and Sigue Sigue Sputnik.
They unleashed their hypnotic ‘Patterns/Harmonics’ CD album last October, along with a collectible limited edition white vinyl offering. It was greatly received on Steve Lamacq’s Round Table on BBC 6 Music.
