I have been Co-Cultural Editor of Brighton & Hove News for five years.
I am also a freelance project manager and consultant with a focus on engagement and support of heritage and arts clients and organisations to create, plan and deliver projects, engage communities with this work and explore new ways of experiencing creativity through history. This involves collaborating with partners, clients and staff to manage activities and events for successful delivery.
I aim to encourage participation and outreach. This is through projects involving reminiscence, creativity and archive material to engage a wide range of groups and individuals in creative and cultural activities, including recording people’s life stories and memories.
I have worked in the cultural sector since 2005, both as a freelancer and employee, and have extensive experience of engagement with and partnership on creative heritage projects in London and the South East. I work with Fabrica gallery, NHS, University of Brighton, Polka Theatre, Nutkhut, HMDT Music and Brighton Dome/Brighton Festival amongst others.
I also set up creative heritage organisation Strike a Light – Arts & Heritage CIC, creating strategy, funding, delivering activities and providing training for diverse groups across Sussex.
Heritage & Reminiscence projects
I like facilitating multiple projects and tasks and finding innovative ways to promote culture and history and to train others to get involved. I deliver work for arts organisations, theatres, heritage organisations, libraries and universities amongst others. My special focus is heritage and reminiscence.
