Man jumps from Brighton Pier

A man who jumped fully clothed from the Palace Pier in Brighton was pulled from the sea by fishermen this afternoon.

As the man jumped at about 3pm, a member of the public threw one of the pier’s lifebuoys into the water. The three fishermen in their boat did not see the casualty jump but noticed the lifebuoy and headed to the area.

On reaching the man, they hauled him aboard and set off for Brighton Marina.

The RNLI Brighton lifeboat was launched and met them at the entrance of the marina and helped the casualty with blankets and oxygen until an ambulance arrived.

Hypothermic but alert, the casualty was also suffering from neck and back pain, and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, in Eastern Road, Brighton.

what a fool.. you could kill yourself jumping from the pier, more so if you land on those submerged metal supports.
