Backers of a proposed new off licence called Lord Of The Wines will find out this week whether it will be granted permission to serve drinks until 4am.
The licensing committee of Brighton and Hove City Council will consider the application for a new use for a former sweet shop.
The shop is on the corner of Upper St James’s Street and Wyndham Street, in Kemp Town, Brighton.
The application will be decided at a meeting at Brighton Town Hall, in Bartholomews, at 10am on Tuesday (15 June).
Ali Utkusavas has applied for permission to sell drinks from 6am until 4am.
The council has been sent a petition against the plans signed by 87 local residents and 63 others as well as five letters of objection.
The latest application follows just days after residents complained about plans for another new off licence in the area.
Tipple also applied for permission to open from 6am to 4am at a site next door to the late-night Bulldog pub in St James’s Street.
Residents have already lost one battle to block the new Tesco in St James’s Street from serving alcohol.
