Emergency gas pipe repairs are expected to add to traffic congestion along one of the busiest roads in the centre of Brighton today.
The contractor Southern Gas Works needs to cut off a leaking gas main in Queen’s Road, Brighton, opposite the old Sergeant Yorke’s Casino and just south of Brighton Station.
The contractor expects to complete the work today but plans to shut the northbound side of the road.
One bus stop will be suspended while the work takes place to allow traffic to flow in both directions.
As a result some services will use neighbouring Surrey Street instead.
Contractors will also shut part of Chalky Road in Mile Oak between 10am and noon today.
Services will be diverted up Graham Avenue.
As a result they will not pick up passengers or drop them off at bus stops outside Portslade Community College in Chalky Road, in Thornhill Rise or in Graham Crescent.
