Something out of the ordinary is happening at Brighton Electric

LibraLibra

LibraLibra

LibraLibra, from Brighton, UK, are a force to be reckoned with. Exotic melodies and frenetic, lyrical flows meet tribal beats and broken guitars. There is an unease in every song that leaves you hanging on to vocalist Beth Cannon’s every inflection; each new chorus cementing the ambition and talent of this intriguing bunch.

LibraLibra

Cannon’s vocal ability has received deserved accolade throughout her career with her command of script prompting comparisons to Kate Bush and Bjork. Some may recognise the voice from Simon Raymonde’s Lost Horizons (Bella Union) where Cannon wrote and performed on lead track ‘Bones’, and will be fronting the live band when they hit Brighton Electric on Friday 12th October.

LibraLibra combines a melodic mastery akin to Asha Bhosle, with a lyrical flow that would leave MIA burned. The band’s mastery of their instruments creates a unique cacophony of beautiful noise whilst never detracting from the catchy melodies and infectious beats that smack you right in the holes.
More on the band HERE.

Battery Operated Orchestra

Battery Operated Orchestra aka BOO are Chris Black and Brigitte Rose and they make truly superb DIY synthpop. Their music has been supported by BBC radio, WFMU and many other fine stations across the world. Their videos and CD artwork, which DJs have described as some of the most beautiful they’ve seen, are all hand-made by the band themselves and you can pick them up soon at Brighton Electric.

“It’s electro pop so good it sends shivers down parts of the spine other bands cannot reach.” – The Devil Has The Best Tuna

“They stand out because they never neglect the pop in their electro-pop and thread a home-made charm through their songs.” – Backseat Mafia

“Highly charged electronica with incredibly addictive melodies.” – Louder Than War

“Chirpy, analogue powered electro-pop that sounds like a childlike version of Chvrches, full of fun and devoid of irony.” – The Metaphorical Boat

“Shakin’ 80s electronics stuck with a bit of Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Debbie Harry.” – Give it Back Magazine

“If you’re even the slightest bit interested in electronic pop, then Radiation offers 42 minutes of uninterrupted pleasure. 10/10 – Classic” – Electroskull

Inwards

Inwards is the alias of Kristian Shelley, a multi-instrumentalist and music programmer from Worcestershire, UK. His work exists in the experimental domain and draws influence from the far borders of dance music, using modular synths with acoustic and electronic sources to create a nostalgic and colourful sonic palette.

Crackling with the freedom and spontaneity that characterises his studio productions, Inwards live performances vary from one environment to the next, taking on organic forms through the manipulation of his electronic instruments. Gaining a reputation for his absorbing shows, which are often complemented by live visuals, he has played alongside the likes of Lapalux, Adam Betts (Three Trapped Tigers), Tyondai Braxton (Battles) and Ulrich Schnauss, and at festivals including The Great Escape and Brighton Digital Festival.

Signing to Small Pond in 2017 after capturing attention with a series of DIY releases, Inwards invites you to Brighton Electric to absorb a dark yet playful and psychedelic world of sound on his debut album.

More info HERE.

The three above acts will all be performing at a FREE EVENT being held at the Brighton Electric on Friday 12th October from 7pm. The venue is located at Coombe Terrace, 43-45, Tramway House, Brighton BN2 4AD. Further details HERE.
