Police appeal for help finding hate crime suspect

Police have issued a public appeal for help to try to identify a man suspected of “a hate crime incident”.

Sussex Police said today (Thursday 14 November): “Officers investigating a report of a hate crime in Brighton have issued an image of a man they wish to speak to.

“The incident happened near the Clock Tower on Saturday 9 November and we are aware of a video circulating on social media.

“Anyone who recognises the man or who can identify him is asked to come forward.

“Sussex Police recognises there is the potential for increased tensions and is engaging with communities and partners to ensure people feel safe and protected.

“Anyone who experiences threatening behaviour or is worried about their safety is urged to contact Sussex Police.

“Meanwhile anyone with information about the identity of the man can report it to us online or on 101, quoting serial 257 of 10/11.”

What did he actually say? Unless he said something which could have incited violence or discriminated against an individual with a protected characteristic, it will be tricky to prosecute as there is as yet, no legal definition of ‘hate crime’.

Or is it one of those non-crime hate incidents I hear so much about ?

What makes communities and partners feel safer ? Knowing that the police will track down this chap, or being on patrol and discouraging electric motorcycles, graffiti, shoplifting, burglaries, assaults, muggings etc.
A genuine question about where our tax money gets spent best in the police force.

It’s one of the disgusting anti semitic pieces of filth who make our city like a cesspool.

I believe he may have goosestepped past Jewish people while giving a Nazi salute. I would think this must meet the criteria.

Maybe you’d like to contact the police and ask them if they need your help deciding on the definition of a hate crime.

Hate is a strong word, why don’t we just call him a gobshite with not much going on upstairs.

If you think someone who goes out of his way to behave like this in front of Jews isn’t motivated by hate then you need to give your head a wobble.

How can you hate someone you don’t even know, he might dislike Jews,he might not like what he might see going on in the middle east, but hate is personal, like I said, he’s not much going on up stairs, for the record, I’m a roman Catholic brought up in a border county in Ireland, I might dislike some individuals but to hate as a whole, no definitely not.
