Sussex Police today issued a fresh appeal for help finding a mother who went missing a week ago.
The force said that search efforts were continuing to locate 58-year-old Tiina Proffitt, a mother of two adult children, who is missing from her address in Brighton.
Sussex Police said: “Tiina was last seen at 12.25pm on Thursday 21 May walking in the direction of Withdean Park.
“In Tiina’s last CCTV sighting, she was wearing a light-coloured shirt, grey or blue jogging bottoms or jeans and white deck shoes.
“She was also carrying a colourful tote bag, which may have contained a change of clothes.
“Tiina is 5ft 8in, has short brown hair and a distinctive Scandinavian accent.
“CCTV suggests Tiina is likely to have entered Withdean Park, but beyond that it has not yet been established which direction she travelled in.
“As the search continues, we are asking the public to check gardens, outbuildings, allotments, sheds or anywhere else where Tiina could enter to get out of the heat and rest.
“Tiina is a keen walker and has previously visited a number of areas across the South Downs and surrounding locations, including Henfield, Pyecombe, the Devil’s Dyke, Plumpton and Stanmer Park.
“She may still be in Brighton but could also have travelled further afield or to somewhere secluded.”
Detective Inspector Jennifer Pietersen, the senior investigating officer, said: “Searches have been ongoing in local greenspaces and parks, including in Withdean Park, Waterhall and through to Henfield.
“Search officers, police dogs, drones, alongside support from the Sussex Search and Rescue team and the wider community, have all played a significant role in the ongoing efforts to find Tiina.
“There have been extensive CCTV inquiries but no further confirmed sightings of Tiina since Thursday afternoon (21 May) when she was seen walking along Braybon Avenue at 12.25pm, taking a route that leads into Withdean Park.”
Sussex Police added: “If you feel you may have seen Tiina or have CCTV footage which could help police to identify her movements, please make a report immediately by calling 999, quoting Op Bydown.”
