PACA pleased with A-level improvements

Amy Connacher, Megan Woodford, Gus Simon and Jamie Piper celebrate their A-level results

The A-level pass rate at the Portslade Aldridge Community Academy (PACA) was 100 per cent again and more students achieved the highest grades, the school said today (Thursday 18 August).

PACA said: “Students and staff at PACA are celebrating another year of 100 per cent pass rate in both A-level and vocational qualifications with improved results in terms of both attainment and progress.

“The percentage of students achieving A* to A grades has doubled since 2014 to nearly 30 per cent, with 60 per cent of students achieving one or more A* or A grade in their A-level results.

“Similar improvements can be seen with 78 per cent of students now achieving at least one A* to B grade at A-level and over a third of students got three or more A-levels or equivalents at the very highest grades (A* to B).”

Among the students celebrating at PACA this morning as they collected their results were Connor Robbins and Adam Pye who both achieved three A* grades.

Connor said: “The harder I worked the more I enjoyed myself and it has really paid off.”

Ethan Mann, who has been at PACA since year 7, celebrated his AAB grades. He said: “I’m extremely happy. It’s exactly what I wanted. I’m looking for an apprenticeship or work in the film industry.”

Megan Woodford (A*BB) said: “I’m buzzing. I got the grades I need to go to university and realise my dream of becoming a teacher.”

Gus Simon, is not only celebrating three A* grades but will be flying to Australia to play cricket for a Melbourne club. Gus came to PACA in year 12 as part of the Aldridge Cricket Academy.

Principal Katie Scott said: “I’d like to congratulate our students and staff whose hard work has been rewarded with today’s results.

“PACA 6th form is going from strength to strength with our number of students quadrupling since 2014.

“Alongside our A-level results it’s great to see how many of our students on our BTEC courses have achieved higher grades than their GCSE results predicted.”

Enrolment for the next year 12 intake is happening on GCSE results day (Thursday 25 August) for PACA students and the morning of Friday 26 August for external students.
