The NHS has linked up with a charity to create a website detailing drug and alcohol services in Brighton and Hove.
The website – thinkdrinkdrugs.co.uk – includes YouTube videos of people from Brighton and Hove telling their real-life stories of drink and drug problems.
The site includes a series of animations, developed locally, to explain the impact of drugs and drink.
It also has an alcohol and a drug self test to allow people to explore their concerns about their substance use.
The site is funded by the Brighton-based national charity Crime Reduction Initiatives (CRI) and Brighton and Hove City Teaching Primary Care Trust. The PCT is also known as NHS Brighton and Hove.
Mari Longhurst, substance misuse health promotion adviser at CRI, said: “We wanted to put together something that was both easy to use and comprehensive.
“So we worked with students from across the city to find out what people really wanted the website to do.
“We also carried out a survey with professionals working in this area and spoke to all the different agencies in the city who deal with the effects of drug and alcohol misuse.
“Now anyone in the city can find out what’s available and what to do if they have a problem with alcohol or drugs.”
