A Hove legal secretary is due to appear in court today charged with stealing almost half a million pounds from a client account.

She faces a further charge of stealing more than £60,000 from an elderly lady for whom she had power of attorney.

Leanne Harris, 25, is accused of seven counts of theft in total while working for Arscotts Solicitors, of Lansdowne Place, Hove, from 2008 to 2010.

Harris, who lives in Gildredge, Whitesmith, near Hailsham, was arrested after an investigation by the Sussex Police Major Fraud Unit.

She was bailed by police and is due to be brought before Brighton magistrates this morning (Friday 2 September).
