Fire damaged a flat in Portslade in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday 14 November).
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service received the call-out to the top floor flat in Trafalgar Road, Portslade, at about 1.30am.
Firefighters from Hove and Preston Circus in Brighton attended the blaze.
The occupant of the flat managed to get out safely.
Fire service investigators are trying to establish the cause of the blaze.
