Three men from Brighton and Hove have been banned after they admitted drink driving when they were brought before magistrates.
Godfrey Bwire, 35, of Links Close, Portslade, had almost three times the legal limit as he drove an Audi A4 along Western Road, Brighton, on Wednesday 18 March.
He pleaded guilty to drink driving at Brighton Magistrates’ Court. The bench was told that he had 96 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.
Bwire was banned from driving for two years. The length of his ban will be cut by 24 weeks – almost six months – if he satisfactorily completes an approved course costing no more than £250.
He was also ordered to complete 150 hours of community service over the next year.
Promise Eruchi Chinda, 21, of Upper Bevendean Avenue, Brighton, was caught in a BMW in The Highway, Moulsecoomb, on Saturday 28 March.
He pleaded guilty to drink driving at Brighton Magistrates’ Court. The bench was told that he had 89 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.
Chinda was banned for 22 months. The length of his ban will be cut by 22 weeks if he satisfactorily completes an approved course costing no more than £250.
He was also fined £175 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and £85 prosecution costs.
Nural Hoque, 34, of Firle Road, Brighton, was caught driving a Mazda 323 in Preston Drove, Brighton, on Thursday 2 April.
He pleaded guilty to drink driving at Brighton Magistrates’ Court. The bench was told that he had 62 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.
Hoque was banned from driving for 17 months. The length of his ban will be cut by 17 weeks if he satisfactorily completes an approved course costing no more than £250.
He was also fined £170 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and £85 prosecution costs.
The court was told that his car was in a dangerous condition. Hoque admitted that the front nearside wheel and tyre and the nearside wing mirror placed people at risk of injury.
He was fined a further £115, landing him with a £390 bill in total.
