The Release – ‘It’s Time To See Who’s Who’ by Conflict (Selected Video)
Having recently seen Steve Ignorant and Subhumans play live I had to see if this anarcho punk album has stood the test of time. Almost blew my head off!

The Release – ‘Americana’ by The Offspring (Selected Video)
Can’t believe this album is now over 20 years old, I still think of it as a new album! Might be 2 decades but still sounds as fresh now as when I first heard it. There’s not a bum-note on the whole album favourites though ‘Staring at the Sun’, ‘Feelings’ and the blistering ‘No Brakes’ it’s pure class!

The Release – ‘The Age Of Immunology’ by Vanishing Twin (Selected Video)
Flaming Lips, Avalanches and Stereolab all at work here. A few tracks are a bit hard work but overall great.

The Release – ‘The Modern Age’ by Sleeper (Selected Video)
This week, after seeing the fabulous Sleeper at their recent gig in Hove – I wanted more. Grabbed a copy at a bargain price – ‘The Modern Age’. 22 years after Sleeper’s third album ‘Pleased To Meet You’ this album, ‘The Modern Age’ is a most enjoyable mixed bag – a very welcome return from Louise and this well loved Brighton band.

The Release – ‘Final Wild Songs’ by The Long Ryders (Selected Video)
This week’s album is actually a box set: The Long Ryders – ‘Final Wild Songs’. It features all their studio recordings from 1983 to 1987, together with a live show from Holland in 1985. If The Byrds had formed after hearing 1970’s punk rock, this is probably what they would have sounded like.

The Release – ‘40’ by Stray Cats (Selected Video)
My album this week has to be this one. It’s the Stray Cats 40. I still have my first album from 1979, which is the classic ‘Stray Cats’ with tracks like ‘Stray Cat Strut’, ‘Rock This Town’ and of course the Classic ‘Rumble In Brighton’. Well 40 years on is the latest offering from the Stray Cats any good. You betcha, I love it and have played it 3 times this week. It all kicks off with ‘Cat Fight’ and has 12 glorious tracks. Well I think they nailed it. Give it a listen and see what you think.

The Release – ‘Refried Ectoplasm (Switched on Volume 2)’ by Stereolab (Selected Video)
Following their visit to Brighton on Tuesday night at the Concorde2, I was reminded of just how many great tracks there are on this 1995 album, which is a superb compilation of singles and early rarities.

The Release – ‘Don’t Wait ‘Til Tomorrow’ by Yonaka (Selected Video)
I am Rather enjoying the Yonaka first, album, ‘Don’t Wait ‘Till Tomorrow’. some great melody and riffs.. After seeing them live a couple of times the past 2 years, they are certainly coming along and I can certainly see the band going places.

The Release – ‘Keepsake’ by Hatchie (Selected Video)
Saw Hatchie live in Brighton on 9th June and been playing her new debut album ever since. Not a bad track on it at all.
Team Member – Nick Tutt
The Release – ‘We Are The League’ by Anti-Nowhere League (Selected Video)
A ‘local’ band remembered mostly for getting ‘So What’ banned – mentions of your hometown always helps a song hold a place in one’s heart
Team Member – Richie Nice
The Release – ‘No Keys’ by Dommengang (Selected Video)
This American trio’s psych tinged bluesy rock has wormed its way into my affections over the last few listens.
Team Member – Ross Harper
The Release – ‘So Tonight That I Might See’ by Mazzy Star (Selected Video)
Words are not enough to explain Mazzy Star, just listen to her, open your heart and close your eyes.
Team Member – Sara-Louise Bowrey

It’s beautiful and arguably one of the best albums ever made.
