A pensioner who was hit by a Hyundai car in Hove suffered a broken pelvis last night (Monday 26 August).
The accident happened in Blatchington Road, Hove, and the road was closed for about an hour and a half while 999 crews dealt with the incident.
The 70-year-old pedestrian also suffered arm injuries and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for treatment.
Sussex Police said: “Emergency services were called after a pedestrian was in collision with a car in Blatchington Road, Hove, on Monday (26 August) at 8.30pm.
“The 70-year-old man from Hove was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, with a fractured pelvis and arm injuries.
“The driver of the Hyundai i10 car involved was uninjured.”
Er so why did the driver hit the pedestraian then? Was the driver tested? Did the pensioner walk into the road? Why is this half a story?
Journalists have to work extremely hard to obtain information regarding people, thanks to Data Protection. They would be able to obtain relevant information from bystanders/witnesses (which could be false) and attempt to obtain further information from the emergency services, but, that would be impossible if it was a case of ‘an ongoing investigation’.
Having a reporter at each scene would be a bonus; could I have a suggestion as to where they should be positioned and at what times?
