A Brighton man has been charged with holding up a bookmakers at knifepoint.
Sussex Police said: “A man who was arrested on suspicion of carrying out a knifepoint robbery at Betfred in Brighton has been charged.
“Necat Karasahin, 28, of Montague Street, Brighton, appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (27 November) charged with robbery and possession of a knife in a public place.
“Armed officers responded to a report that a man armed with a knife had gone into the bookmakers in Park Road on Monday evening (25 November), climbed on the counter and demanded the member of staff hand over cash from the safe.
“The man was arrested in the shop.
“Karashin was remanded in custody by magistrates to appear at crown court on (Monday) 23 December.”
