Paedophile doctor found guilty of abusing boy, 8, from Hove

Hove Crown Court

A jury has convicted a man of raping a woman he met in night club on Brighton seafront.

Darrell Moore met the woman on a Saturday night out in May 2022 and went back to a friend’s flat where he raped her and sexually assaulted her.

Moore, 33, from Streatham, London, denied two counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault and went on trial at Hove Crown Court last month.

At the end of a week-long trial, after he was convicted of all the charges, Judge David Rennie remanded him in custody to be sentenced in the new year.

Sussex Police said today (Friday 7 November): “A man was found guilty of the rape of a woman in Brighton after a night out.

“Darrell Moore met the victim at a seafront night club with friends in May 2022.

“They then attended a friend’s flat in the city, where he committed two rapes and two sexual assaults by penetration.

“Moore, 33, of Albert Carr Gardens, Streatham, stood trial at Hove Crown Court on Monday 20 October this year.

“A jury found him guilty of the four counts on Friday 24 October.

“He now faces sentencing for the offences on Friday 16 January next year.

“The court was told how the incident happened on Sunday 15 May 2022 after a group left a beachfront night club at about 5am and went to get fast-food together.

“The group went back to the flat of a friend of the victim and, in a separate room, Moore preyed on the victim and raped her.

“The victim, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, received support from specially trained officers.”

Investigating officer Detective Constable Elaine Welsh said: “This was a distressing incident for the victim.

“I would like to thank her for supporting the investigation and commend her bravery and strength to secure justice in this case.

“This was a life-changing event for her but her courage has ensured our community is safer for women. She has helped remove this predator from our streets.”
