Light Up Coldean – the community’s annual Christmas street party – gets under way this afternoon (Friday 28 November).
The event, in Ingham Drive, runs from 3pm to 7pm, and is one of the largest and most cherished community celebrations in Coldean.
The organisers said that it brings together families, children, residents, volunteers and local groups for an afternoon filled with festive activities, entertainment, stalls, handmade gifts and community connection.
They said: “At a time when so much darkness and difficulty fills the world, our aim is to bring a little light, joy and positivity to our neighbourhood, showcasing the strength that comes from community, kindness and togetherness.”
They also said that they were hoping to be joined this year by Councillor Bella Sankey, the leader of Brighton and Hove City Council, and possibly the mayor of Brighton and Hove Amanda Grimshaw.
The organisers added that the gathering was a celebration of local spirit and they thanked the volunteers who worked hard to make this event possible each year.
