Smash EDO protest plans Brighton protest next week

Smash EDO is planning another major protest in Brighton on Monday.

The last big-scale protest on May Day last year brought chaos to the streets of the city, as The Argus reported here.

This time, it is again planning on bussing in supporters from around the country to demonstrate against EDO MBM Technology, which manufactures components used in weaponry at its factory in Home Farm Road, Moulsecoomb.

The protesters say these are sold to Israel – an accusation the company strongly denies.

The demonstration will kick off at 1pm, at a meeting point which will be texted to protesters and posted on this website shortly before it is due to begin.

It has been timed to coincide with the anniversary of the final day of the three-week Gaza War between Israel and Hamas in 2008/9, also known as Operation Cast Lead.

In a statement, Smash EDO said: “We will not allow those who supported their pain and profited from their suffering to go unchallenged. We will not let this genocide be forgotten.

“On the first anniversary after their deaths, we will rise up. We will take to the streets. We will remember…”
