The organisers of Hanover Day are asking residents to dig deep and help them raise £6,000 to ensure the event takes place.
The event, which has been going for 20 years now, is due to take place on July 4 with the theme of The United Streets of Hanover, The Argus’s Hanover community correspondent Claire Banks reports.
It has posted leaflets through doors in the Brighton district asking for donations and volunteers to ensure it takes place.
The event had to be cancelled for similar reasons in 2008, but came back with a bang last year.
This year, a bike race up the notoriously steep Southover Street for adults and children is at the centre of celebrations.
To donate, send a cheque payable to ‘Hanover Day Association’ and send to the Hanover Centre in Southover Street.
