The Liberal Democrats have chosen their candidates for all nine Hove wards for the local elections next May.
The most notable selection – or rather deselection – is in Brunswick and Adelaide ward as Brighton and Hove News reported on Monday.
Long-serving councillor David Watkins has been deselected, although his ward colleague Councillor Paul Elgood will stand again for a seat on Brighton and Hove City Council.
Lib Dem local party chairman Lawrence Eke said: “Following our 11 per cent swing in the general election, I am delighted with the people who have come forward to fight for better representation and Liberal Democrat values on the council.
“Voters are fed up with complacent councillors who do practically nothing for the people they represent.
“Up and down the UK, Liberal Democrat councillors are known to work harder than any other party.
“We have some committed campaigners in our ranks, such as Mark Collins and Becky Taylor for Central Hove and Paul Elgood and Brian Stone for Brunswick and Adelaide.
“I hope to announce the selections for the Brighton Pavilion and Brighton Kemptown wards before Christmas.”
One familiar candidate is former Hove Borough Council member Bob Bailey who will contest Wish.
