Brighton & Hove Albion: Three for all!

Wolverhampton Wanderers 3 Brighton & Hove Albion 3

The Albion held Wolves to a draw at Molineux this afternoon (Saturday 10 November) despite going a goal behind in the first half and taking the lead with a last-minute penalty.

The Black Country side had defender Karl Henry sent off late in the first half after an awful challenge on Albion’s Liam Bridcutt.

The home team took the lead mid way through the first half with a goal from midfielder Bakary Sako.

The in-form Craig Mackail-Smith equalised for the Seagulls before half time.

Albion should have in all probability made their man advantage count early in the second half. First David Lopez missed a great chance on the edge of the six-yard box then Stephen Dobbie when clean through shot straight at Wolves keeper Carl Ikeme.

Wolves retook the lead through a clever finish from Tongo Doumbia almost on the hour, which appeared to deflate the Seagulls for while.

However, Will Buckley who had come on recently come on for Lopez, latched on to Bridcutt’s pass and put Albion level at 2-2.

Albion really took the game to Wolves after this and appeared to have got their reward when Roger Johnson was adjudged to have handled in the area with just a minute left.

Stephen Dobbie blasted the ball home from 12 yards to put the Albion 3-2 up.

It looked very much like the Seagulls would take all three points back to Sussex.

But in a saga reminiscent of a match between the teams at the Goldstone in August 1991, Wolves snatched a late equaliser with a flying header from earlier penalty villain Roger Johnson.

Haha wow I remember the goldstone clash! Though I believe we were 3-1 up that day before they came back to equalize. In sure mike small scored that day and possibly Robert codnor!!! Oh to have mike small these days! (As he was then of course!!)
