One of Brighton’s busiest food banks will close without new home

One of the busiest food banks in Brighton and Hove will close next month unless it can find new premises.

The Haven, which is based near Brighton Racecourse, is providing up to 60 food parcels a week.

It is one of six food banks operating in Brighton and Hove. Four more are due to open, according to the Brighton and Hove Partnership, which said that they were meeting a growing demand.

The Food Partnership highlighted the risk of the Haven closing on its website.

And it noted that all of Brighton and Hove’s existing food banks receive at least some of their donated food through Fareshare.

The Food Partnership said that support for Fareshare – through more food donations and more funding – was a priority for Brighton and Hove at this time.
