BHASVIC celebrates best ever A level results

Brighton, Hove and Sussex VI Form College (BHASVIC) said that its A level results this year were its best ever.

The college said: “BHASVIC’s  AS and A level results are its best ever this year both in terms of the number of students passing and the number of students achieving top grades.

“Over 950 students sat A levels in June 2014 achieving a pass rate of 99 per cent and with 60 per cent of grades at A* to B.

“Over 1,500 students sat AS levels in June 2014 achieving an incredible 92 per cent pass rate with 50 per cent of grades at A or B.

“Many students gained three or more A grades at A level with four students achieving four A* grades.”

The four were Ana Groom, Daniel Gunn, Thomas Whitmore and William Farrance.

Another student, Janet Lalla-Hamblin, managed five A grades at AS level.

The college said: “BHASVIC students are reaping the rewards of their success as they move on to top universities in September with a record number of 34 offered places at Oxford and Cambridge.

“BHASVIC prides itself on being ‘open access’ – prospective students can study A levels here if they have achieved five or more grade Cs or above at GCSE.

“BHASVIC builds on students’ GCSE results and then improves students’ achievements still further from AS to A level ensuring that all students achieve their full potential.”

BHASVIC principal Chris Thomson said: “BHASVIC’s record results will confirm the national recognition it has received for its consistently high quality learning and teaching.

“Our partner schools, parents and above all our outstanding staff and students are to be congratulated.”
