Wooden animal carving ‘hacked’ to pieces

Families were upset to find a wooden carving of badger which children used to play had been “hacked” in an apparent act of vandalism.

Mum Kallika Sage discovered the damage to the wooden carving of a badger when walking her dog in Happy Valley Park, Woodingdean last week.

She said The carved figurines had been damaged before, but this time the whole back half of one had been smashed into smithereens.

Kallika said: “Why?! My daughter loves going to see these little animals.

“Someone has actually taken the time to hack through it completely.

“There’s not a lot in our parks as it is and these have been made by someone for children to play with.”

Sussex Police said the incident had not been reported to them.

Some real degenerates out there, what could anyone ‘gain’ from this sabotage? Some people really are scum.

What a sad thing to do. I blame lack of affordable housing and universal credit. Makes people angry

Absolutely nothing to do with bad parenting and letting the kids run riot, then?

This lack of affordable housing and the universal credit thing etc may seem like a new phenomenon to some younger people, but back in the day there were people in very poor rented housing struggling very hard to make ends meet, no benefits whatsoever available, worked all hours possible and managed somehow. I was the kid in that struggling household and, believe me, I didn’t, and wasn’t allowed to, be out on the rampage vandalising anything.

Back thn, nobody got angry – they just managed as best they could in the situation they were in. However, in the interests of fairness, perhaps you would like to tell us your story and why you blame what you say you blame.

This strikes me as a phenomenally rose-tinted view.

Apart from the fact that this is an utterly pointless piece of vandalism, what is more worrying, is that there was a youth (it usually is), who was walking around with something that could do that much damage!
And that is much far more disturbing!
We are creating a youth of today that is extremely violent and clearly disturbed!
I hope they find this individual very soon or God help any innocent person who runs into into this individual!

Simon, you are aware that this has currently no links to youths causing the damage? Needless stereotyping, especially in the lack of any evidence of such, is in very poor aptitude. Be better.

The person that did this is obviously a dangerously disturbed individual.
Nothing to do with bad housing or benefits!
Even if this person was getting both, I’m betting this person would not be any different and is typical of today’s violent and anarchistic youth who just enjoy destroying anything just for the sake of doing it!
Sooner or later, this person is going to kill or maim someone if they’re not caught, and I hope it’s soon and the person they kill or maim is not someone you know and love.
Let’s see you blame it on affordable housing and benefits then?

I blame ‘no society’ Thatcherism creating atomised people with no community or support network and a bitter resentment of anything that reminds them of what they are lacking.
