Father dies in Brighton bypass crash

A man died and his son suffered minor injuries in a car crash on the Brighton bypass last night.

The driver of a second car was unhurt.

The accident happened at about 7.20pm when a silver Honda and a blue Hyundai collided while travelling east along the A27 Brighton bypass.

They had just emerged from Southwick Tunnel, between the slip road to the Holmbush roundabout and the turn-off to Portslade.

The Honda driver, a 46-year-old man from Newhaven, died after being thrown from his car.

His son, 11, was also thrown from their car but was not badly hurt.

The 76-year-old Hyundai driver was not injured.

The road was closed until 3am today.
