A 21-year-old man has died after he was hit by a van on the A27 at Falmer.
The man died yesterday (Sunday 6 July) at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
He was hit in the early hours of Saturday (5 July) morning as the Peugeot Partner van was heading towards Lewes.
The driver, a 58-year-old man from Crawley, was unhurt. He has not been arrested.
Sussex Police said: “On Saturday at around 1.15am, emergency services were called to a collision on the eastbound A27 at Falmer between a car and a pedestrian.
“The man was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital but sadly died on Sunday afternoon.”
The victim was an American student at the International Summer School at Sussex University.
