Community leaders from across Brighton and Hove are to be given advice on how to tackle late night noise nuisance.
They will be given tips by Gloria Elliott, chief executive of the Noise Abatement Society, a national campaign group which has its base in Brighton.
She will run a workshop for the chairmen of local action teams (LATs) in Brighton and Hove next month.
Her involvement comes after the St James’s Street Area LAT raised the issue with the Brighton and Hove Community Safety Partnership.
Chris Cooke, chairman of the St James’s Street Area LAT, said: “It’s an emotive topic and I am glad our LAT is at the vanguard of sorting this problem out.”
The noise nuisance workshop will take place on Friday 12 November.
Linda Beanlands, head of community safety at Brighton and Hove City Council, said in a letter inviting LAT representatives to the workshop: “The limited powers of the police and council to deal with this issue have hindered us in the past.
“We committed therefore to thinking afresh about this issue and develop innovative ways of bringing about changes in behaviour.”
Local action teams are groups of people in a neighbourhood who meet regularly to help tackle crime, disorder, anti-social behaviour and safety problems.
Some have “local action team” as part of their name while others are part of a broader community association such as the Portland Road and Clarendon Forum in Hove.
