The organisers of the annual March for England say they are going to hold the controversial event up north next year – but have vowed to return here in 2016.
The annual march, which for the past few years has been held in Brighton on the weekend closest to St George’s Day, has frequently ended in violence with clashes between marchers and anti-fascist protesters.
It has cost the city millions of pounds with the policing operation regularly running into hundreds of thousands of pounds, as well as lost business.
Last year, central Brighton businesses estimated it cost them millions after many businesses were forced to close for the day.
Last night, the organisers announced on Facebook: “It has been decided to now to alternate our St Georges Parade between Brighton and other venues.
“2015 will be in the North at a Sea front location in talks now on location. 2016 will be back in welcoming seaside resort of Brighton.”
The first commenter on the status suggested Liverpool as a possible northern seaside location.
Tony Campbell of Stop the March for England said “We welcome the news that next year’s St George’s Day will not be marred by gangs of racist thugs marching in the streets of Brighton.
“This is a victory for a city that was prepared to come out and defend its reputation for tolerance and diversity. We will offer our support to anti racists in whichever city or town the March for England chooses to afflict next – if they change their minds then we are ready.”

But not ready to be tolerant of people with a different view to yourselves I see. Yeah, you’ll be ready – ready with your Anglo-phobic hatred and violence, which you then blame English people for. Tell me, what goes through a lefturd’s mind when he/she openly expresses a hatred for his/her own people and country, not to mention the rabid hatred for English people who wish to celebrate their identity and culture?
