Seven Dials roundabout gets a sofa

The Seven Dials roundabout became a impromptu front room last night when a group of people put a sofa there then sat down to enjoy the view.

It’s not known whether the group were die-hard Friends fans, students enjoying a prolonged Freshers Week or simply a group of friends helping transport the sofa needing a break.

The sofa was on the roundabout from about 9.30pm. An amused local sent us these pictures.

He said: “Someone is lounging in the middle of the Seven Dials in style.

“It looks like students – they are just enjoying the slow traffic. It’s very bizarre.” sofa

About 45 minutes later, the group quietly left, taking their sofa.

Last month, a sofa mysteriously appeared on top of a bus stop in Portslade.

They have gathered to celebrate the work of cllr Ian Davey, whose push for this roundabout was yesterday given a national award.

To sit and watch the smooth flow of traffic at the Dials is to discover one’s inner geek.

Yes, they can watch all the pedestrians jaywalking round the edge of the roundabout rather than using the zebra crossings (which, of course, has NO SAFETY IMPLICATIONS whatsoever).

Anyways, isn’t it nice how Ian Davey made sure the roundabout was covered in concrete, preventing groundwater drainage. So much nicer than having it covered in grass, wildflowers or shrubs. Well deserving of an award.

Poor old M Zuma’s tone would find a more natural place amongst the Ahgoose comments. He/she should sit back and read his/her comment again and reflect upon how it appears to readers. Who would want somebody like that at a party?
