Speakeasy burger bar to open in Hove

A speakeasy themed burger chain is hoping to open a branch in Hove, next to Otello restaurant in the space where the Italian restaurant’s cocktail bar once traded.
7bone
The owners of Otello have now agreed to lease the space to 7bone, which has branches in Southampton, Bournemouth and Camberley, and is about to open in Reading.

It describes itself as serving American comfort food and dirty cocktails in a speakeasy themed joint with first come, first served dining.

The application says: “We have negotiated with the Landlord to let this property for use as one of our casual dining gourmet burger restaurants trading under our brand name of 7Bone Burger Co.

“The ground floor will house the service kitchen, bar and disabled toilet. The service kitchen facility will be constructed at the rear of the ground floor with a service hatch allowing customers to see their meals being cooked fresh to order before being service.

“A prep kitchen will be located in the basement along with a separate bar for diners waiting to be seated upstairs.”

The Otello cocktail bar closed about 18 months ago, and has stood empty since. It falls outside the council’s cumulative impact area, in which new applications have to prove they will not further impact on public safety to be approved.

The application asks to be able to serve food until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and until 11pm from Sunday to Thursday, with alcohol served until 11pm every day. The consultation period ends on 7 March.

The stench of dead animals being cooked won’t be good for Othello.

Forgive my ignorance, but what on earth is a dirty cocktail?

Just what I was wondering. A filthy story, my dad thinks.
