The regeneration of the Trafalgar Street underpass will now include a huge mural inspired by Kew Gardens.
Work to install a 20ft high glazed entrance to the Brighton Toy and Model Museum is progressing well.
And the museum has just announced it is partnering with Govia Thameslink Railway and Kew Gardens to create the wildlife inspired mural.
The project, organised by Kew Gardens’ outreach programme Grow Wild, will see local street artist Daryl Bennett (Sinna One), working with a youth group to put the mural up on a wall by the station.
The brief is to celebrate Brighton’s native flora and identity.
Jan Etches, museum manager, said: “This project is about inspiring local pride and creativity while continuing to brighten the area.
“The new mural complements the wider regeneration beautifully. It will make the station approach a place that feels alive, positive and welcoming.”

The museum has already raised £220,000 for the main structural works of the underpass project, signage, lighting and CCTV.
It has also launched a crowdfunder for an additional £7,500 for the final decorative phase including exterior paintwork across all four arches, restoration of the three stucco columns, attention to the Brighton Belle murals, and anti-graffiti coatings to preserve the improvements for years to come.
Contractor Pilbeam Construction’s managing director Alan Corbett said: “Brighton Toy and Model Museum must be one of the city’s best kept secrets, but this regeneration project will help to make it more visible to visitors and residents alike when they alight at Brighton Train Station.”
