Fewer people behaved in an anti-social way and fewer people urinated in the street at the new-look Pride Street Party, according to a council report.
The council said that the new-look event had been well received “and people enjoyed having increased access to St James’s Street”.
In previous years, St James’s Street and side streets were closed for the Pride Village Party.
This year, on Saturday 2 August, the Pride Street Party took place in Marine Parade, New Steine Gardens and a number of side streets and was based around six main venues.
The changes were made after more than 1,500 people took part in an eight-week online survey carried out in May and June last year.
A further 300 Kemp Town residents shared their views with the council, with 30 attending public meetings about to the changes.
Two thirds of those who responded said that the Pride Village Party arrangements needed to change.
A Brighton and Hove City Council report said: “Following the event (in August), feedback has been largely positive.
“There were no significant reports of antisocial behaviour, there was a reduction in public urination and people enjoyed having increased access to St James’s Street.”
The report, to the council’s Place Overview and Scrutiny Committee, said that the events team was due to meet with the St James’s Street Business Alliance to gather opinions.
And a Kemp Town residents’ meeting is due to take place on Monday 27 October.
The committee is due to meet at Hove Town Hall at 4pm on Tuesday (14 October) when the changes to the Pride party are on the agenda. The meeting is scheduled to be webcast.
Councillors are to be asked to note the report and to make any comments that might inform future planning for the event.
