Sussex Police is appealing for witnesses to graffiti in Brighton to come forward.

Officers have launched an investigation following incidents of graffiti on the seafront at the ‘Upside down House’ and beach café. The graffiti is believed to have happened between 11pm on Friday (5 March) and 7am Saturday (6 March).

Neighbourhood Policing Inspector David Robinson said: “We completely deplore this type of behaviour and are actively investigating who is responsible for the criminal damage. We are working closely with Brighton & Hove City Council and where there is sufficient evidence we will look to prosecute.

“Anyone who witnessed the graffiti incident or has information about it can report information online or ring 101 quoting serial 564 of 06/03.”

Surely, with all those security cameras around that area, it should not be difficult to find the culprit. Unfortunately our council has totally ignored the terrible situation we have with graffiti everywhere. Sweeping it under the carpet has left a message that it is ok put graffiti anywhere and everywhere, and this is the sad result. They have allowed to turn the city into one big dump.

Dear Brightonandhovenews – you realise that you are encouraging graffiti by showing pictures of the tags? Why not blur out the graffiti so that the actual tags cannot be seen? Simple psychology….

Surely there’s the evidential value? Someone might recognize the symbols or what I hesitate to call the style of the graffiti as has happened in the past. There’s more than one type of witness, not just those who saw the act in question being committed!
