Knifemen stab cashier during Brighton post office raid

A gang of three masked knifemen raided a Brighton post office last night, stabbing a member of staff before making off with cigarettes and cash.

Patrols are being stepped up as a result of the robbery, which is believed to be an isolated incident.

Police have released CCTV images of the trio who burst into the Lower Bevendean Post Office in Leybourne Parade at about 7.25pm.

Cigarettes and a quantity of cash were taken and the offenders – who are all described as white men aged between 18 and 20, with their faces covered – left the store and ran off along Taunton Road.

While their identities were concealed, they wore some distinctive clothing including a green North Face jacket and black Emporio Armani trousers.

During the incident, the victim – a 35-year-old local man – was punched to the face several times and stabbed in the leg three times. He was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for treatment.

Police are treating this as a serious but isolated incident, and additional resources will be tasked to patrol the area.

Anyone with any information about the incident or the offenders is asked to report it online or call 101 quoting serial 1103 of 16/01.

Someone must recognise these awful humans…perhaps the clothing – presents bought for them for Christmas?

Best wishes to the poor victim of this disgusting crime.

Obviously all the police were very busy with a gunman in Central Brighton at the time! (oh hang on… He was legally carrying a rifle in a sealed slip. The law says dismantled or securely covered so that it cannot be fired) it was in the required gun cover instantly recognisable and so not a concealed weapon.. And very near to the repair shop.. I hope they apologise. Doubt it… I never got one…
