Brighton crack houses boarded up by police

Two Brighton crack houses have been boarded up by police after officers obtained a closure order in court.

Notices were served on the occupants of Flat 11 and Flat 18 Tyson Place, Brighton, earlier this week to tell them about the application for a closure order.

Inspector Gareth Davies, from the Brighton Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “The application for the order was done in conjunction with Brighton and Hove City Council following many complaints from other residents about anti-social behaviour and drug use.

“I am pleased for the other residents of Tyson Place.

“I hope that having been able to close these premises down, they will now have some peace and quiet.

“I would also like to thank them for their support and patience.

“The information they supplied to both us and the council was vital in obtaining the closure orders.”

Sussex Police said that officers made seven arrests at the properties last month after a drugs warrant.

Five men and two women aged between their early twenties and late forties were arrested on suspicion of having drugs with intent to supply. They are currently on police bail.

Inspector Davies said: “The effect that drugs have on not only the drug user but on the local community is devastating.

“Sussex Police is committed to bringing those responsible to justice.

“Please let us know if you know of anyone in your community who you suspect is dealing drugs.

“We will deal with your call in the utmost confidence and you can always call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
