A driver who hit a cyclist in Hove yesterday (Sunday 11 May) is being hunted by police.

The 30-year-old cyclist had already been blown off his bike by a strong gust of wind as he pedalled north up Wilbury Road near the corner of Eaton Road, Hove.

Sussex Police said: “He fell into the road where he was hit by a car which was travelling behind.

“The cyclist was treated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital for a severely bruised foot but was later allowed home.

“The man driving the car did stop at the scene but left, with his female passenger, without exchanging details when the cyclist said they could. There is no description of the car.”

PC Gavin Spencer said: “If you were in that car, or if you were in the area and saw what happened, please contact us.

Anyone with information about the incident, which happened shortly before 4pm, is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101 or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk.
