A knife-wielding thug stabbed a Brighton night club manager in the leg just before midnight last night (Saturday 4 July).

Dave Cooksley, operations manager at Shooshh, in King’s Road Arches, Brighton, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital after the incident. He has since been released from hospital.

Sussex Police arrested four men who were being held by bouncers after a brawl during which some men used broken bottles as weapons.

The force said: “Four men were arrested after a nightclub security officer was stabbed in the leg on the beach at Brighton.

“The 24-year-old victim was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, for treatment to a small wound to his thigh suffered during the incident just before 12 midnight on Saturday (4 July).

“The incident appears to have happened after a group of men had been denied access to a number of seafront clubs.

“Three men from north London, aged 20, 24 and 25, along with a 26-year-old man from Ilford, were arrested on suspicion of affray.

“The 24-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis. All were bailed until (Wednesday) 16 September.”

The men are believed to have been refuse entry at Shooshh before brawling outside another nearby club, The Arch, in King’s Road, where the stabbing happened.

Anyone who saw what happened is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101, email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
