Man charged with supporting Hamas

Dylan Evans

A pro-Palestinian campaigner has been charged with supporting Hamas on Twitter.

Dylan Evans, of York Road, Hove, was charged today with support for a proscribed organisation – Hamas – contrary to section 12 (1) Terrorism Act 2000.

Evans, 58, was also charged with two counts of intending to stir up racial hatred, contrary to section 19 of the Public Order Act 1986.

The charges are in connection with tweets posted in October 2023.

Evans was released on conditional bail to attend Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 23 May.

What is the law coming to? It used to be about arresting suspects who might have actually done something other than spout opinions to half a dozen followers on Twitter. With a rumoured 20 Police Officers left to cover the whole city and the copshop no longer open 24/7, is this really the BEST use of Police resources?

The government is neglecting its obligations under UN resolutions that state that armed liberation is internationally lawful. This was led by newly independent former colonies who wanted to ensure that armed resistors to existing colonies are not criminalised. Sadly, from before decolonisation to today, the US and former empires continue to criminalise armed liberators in current colonies and foreign occupations. If Germany occupied Britain during WW2, and we were still occupied, Germany would criminalise armed Brits resisting, and fighting to return their homes. Would you support Brits resisting occupation being labelled as terrorists or as liberators. There is no such thing as peaceful liberation, as when peacefgul efforts are made, the occupying authorities jail, murder and otherwise punish activists. See every example of decolonisation and attempted decolonisation. Families from Europe and USA are living in Palestinian homes, growing year by year. Many were bulldozed and covered by new parks for the occupiers. The decision to create ‘Israel’ was made made when 75% of countries weren’t indepedent due to imperialism, and the UN was dominated by imperial powerrs. Palestinians were not asked whether they wanted to give away most of their land and homes, and most Palestinian/Arab Jews were against continued colonialism, and apartheid against their neighbours, who they resided with well for centuries. Imperialists continue to sepearate themselves from global civilisation by continuing to restrict the abilities of Palestinians to empty the foreign occupiers from their homes and farms. As the non-white white, non-Western world rises, we should be minded to be in favour of justice and liberation, lest the 85% of the currently/formerly colonised world might seek to do to us what we did to them. Seek justice now whilst we have a chance, or face growing isolation (see sancvtions and sponsoring terrorists making that worse). Let’s make friends and trade for mutual benefit. We must keep our noses out of other lands/peoples’ business, for we have only made it worse. At the very least, we must not support brutal oppressors. The world’s majority is rising, and you can see Westerrnm imperialism flailing and tryign with last gasps to maintain economic control. Future Brits will consensually look back at this period like our imperialism with utter disgust.

What a pile of crap. Hamas is not “resistance”, it’s Islamist imperialism. Your tedious rant could be simply abridged to “I support Jew-hating misogynistic, homophobic fascists”, because that is precisely what you stand for.

Absolutely, and so many people either don’t get it, or are brainwashed in dehumanising propoganda, or disgustingly support far right extremism, most without even knowing what it is they support!
Anyone who has the incite to research, rather than swallow the lies of the greedy and powerful will know the history, of oppression, apartheid , and conical imperialism and the struggles and civil uprising against it, which has changed the course of history. We are at this period of time again, where it is humanity against the greedy, the powerful and the inhumane! For decades humanity have been distracted with TV, with phone apps, with things that have no significance or importance, whilst being fed false news by mainstream media, moulding people into what the greedy and powerful want them to become, subservient, silenced and controlled nobodies, in order to carry out their lust for more power, and psychotic death and destruction. Whilst western supremicist psychopaths rule the world, they will not abide rebellion against them. This isn’t about terrorism, or words they want to use to silence those who oppose the obvious disgusting genocide and starvation of families that our countries leaders support , this is about silencing humanity, stopping civil rights and freedoms to speak against such inhumanity and for humanity itself, for we all mean nothing in the minds and plans of the most deranged, wealthy, powerful and greedy. The world is truly being taken over by wealthy insane psychopaths, and we as humanity have a duty to speak out against it, for the sake of peace, justice and freedom. What is happening right now, the awful disgusting genocide is a wake up call for the whole world!!

A remarkable resemblance to our own homegrown ‘ notorious antisemite’ tony Greenstein. Why do they always look like that? Are they all grown in the same lab?

I would comment about free-speech but in two years time someone might complain about it and I’d be charged with supporting terrorism

Everyone droning on about free speech is missing the point, it’s possible to be pro Palestine without supporting terrorist organisations like Hamas & Hezbollah. I wonder if they’d be happy about people expressing open support for proscribed right wing terrorist groups?

But the right wing terrorists are coming out from the woodwork, like the good little zombies they are.
Look at how the iof share their disgusting crimes for the world to see, with such impunity and feelings safe to do so!
The mindset of these murderers and the support they receive is absolutely abhorrent!
What happens to humanity if no one calls out against these crimes, and acts of violence??! Anyone that thinks genocide is acceptable, the collective punishment of families is normal, is really not right in the head. Just because the greedy and powerful tell you what to think, and act and do does not make it right! When did we become such a brainwashed species that serves its masters of death and destruction, that cheers on the mass beheading of babies, and burnt bodies of toddlers?!! That is not who we are, or what we represent or support and those that do have lost all rights to call themselves human.

Hamas is a right-wing nationalist terror group. Like Iran, it’s dedicated to wiping out Israel and the Jewish people, and Palestinian civilians in Gaza who have tried to speak up about their fascist tyranny have been killed as a result. I’m not a huge fan of Netanyahu either, or his response to the massacre by Hamas and the mass kidnapping in October 2023. But it’s hard to forget that Hamas was set up under a charter calling for a genocidal jihad against the Jews until Judgment Day. Its attitude to women and LGBT people is remarkably like that of the Taliban. Tel Aviv holds an annual Pride. Netanyahu will be voted out at some point and possibly even prosecuted. Hamas will keep on killing Jews and Palestinians.
