McLaren Construction is seeking a community liaison coordinator for the Edward Street Quarter development.

Ideally based locally, the successful applicant will act as the key point of contact for all community engagement relating to the development between residents, the contractor and the site team.

The Edward Street Quarter development is set to become a vibrant new social hub for the city, encompassing 110,000 sq ft of commercial space, 39,000 sq ft of retail and leisure units and 168 new apartments.

The coordinator will be based on-site for the duration of the build, which is expected to take two years, with work underway.

Steve Eccles, Project Director at developer First Base, said: “Edward Street Quarter aims to amplify the sense of local community, bringing people together and creating new social spaces, so the ongoing communication with neighbouring residents is hugely important to us.”

While neighbourhood interaction remains a crucial part of the role, the Community Liaison Coordinator will also be responsible for on-site secretarial and office manager duties.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with enquiries, providing administrative support to the project team, producing newsletters and attending community events and meetings.

Applications are welcomed from those who have worked in a similar role, with a solid understanding of the construction industry and experience of working directly with community groups.

Stephen Adams, Operations Director at McLaren, commented: “It’s a really exciting time to join us, investigatory groundwork has already begun onsite, so we’re keen to get somebody on board as soon as possible. Ideally this would be a local person, with a good understanding of this community, who can really help us hit the ground running.”

To apply for the role please contact Chanade Ramsay (Chanade.Ramsay@mclarengroup.com) and Nathan Mullane (Nathan.mullane@mclarengroup.com).
